Gordon Whistance
Gordon has joined that colourful elite of presenter/designers who bring style and chic to a variety of homes for the likes of BBC1’s Trading Up, Housecall (5 x series) House Invaders and Changing Rooms.
As an interior designer for notable clients based all over the world his creative style has to be varied, but vitally, for television, he brings a warm, friendly and approachable manner to his work, winning the admiration of programme-makers and viewers.
His designs are beautiful, bold, brave and often very witty – and what he achieved in the live hours of BBC 1’s House Call was frankly amazing! With a day to do the design and preparation, and a live hour to produce the finished result, the imagination and quality was breath-taking!
Trading Up allows little more time for preparation, but with a bigger canvas of the whole house the extra filming time is no less frenetic!
Trading Up in The Sun took the show to warmer climes – but allowed little chance for rest or sunbathing!!
Gordon’s on-screen performance is enhanced by an endearing, sense of humour and a calmness that allows the exuberance of his designs to shine through. Away from the world of design Gordon has presented programmes for BBC –Holiday and the Chelsea Flower Show.
He has been production designer for short film & TV dramas inc:
Blood on Her Hands and
Nothing But The Truth-Granada
Frighteners – CITV, Sold - Matchbox Films, pop promos, and directed title sequences for Home Front in The Garden & Planet Patio (BBC 1)
His skills at translating design ideas for TV were honed whilst working as art director on Homefront (BBC2) where he oversaw and produced designs for Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen.
His corporate profile has led to on-stage appearances, designs and demonstrations for the likes of British Gas & Countryside Properties
