Gardener and horticulturalist Martin Fish combines his expert knowledge with a fun and friendly style that turns the most reluctant gardeners green. He is an experienced gardener with television and radio credits to his name, as well as being a prolific garden writer.

Martin presented the ITV series “Simply Gardening” which he anchored from his own extensive garden, as well as programmes for BBC Television in the East Midlands – weekly gardening strands on location for the early evening news, giving seasonal tips and advice, as well as many other regional programmes.

On radio he presents an award winning magazine programme for BBC Radio Nottingham as has co-presented a garden phone in for BBC Midlands Radio covering the East coast to the Welsh borders, as well as being a panellist on Classic FM’s Gardening Forum.

Martin’s skills and knowledge can also be found in his writing – he contributes regularly to the BBC Gardener’s World Magazine, Easy Gardening, Garden News (for which he created an ornamental kitchen garden) as well as Garden Answers, My Weekly and the RHS journal The Garden.

He has taken up the prestigious post of President of the North of England Horticultural Society. Each year he can be found appearing at all the major gardening shows, fielding popular question and answer sessions with the public on behalf of Phostrogen. He comperes and hosts events, gives practical demonstrations, and acts as consultant to English Courtyard, Bosch, Qualcast and many others. He undertakes training, acts as a judge and is an after dinner speaker.

Martin went into horticulture as an apprentice in the Parks Department before full-time training, followed by being appointed Head Gardener at Rufford Park – at the time the youngest in the country. He lives in Nottinghamshire at Meadowfield Gardens, a six acre property with his family which includes his wife, 3 children, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 4 Gloucester Old Spot pigs and at least 30 chickens, putting into practice his love of gardening.
