Veteran explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is heading off on his greatest challenge yet as he attempts to cross the Antarctic in winter. With temperatures dropping as low as -90C and most of the journey in darkness, Sir Ranulph hopes to succeed where his hero Captain Scott failed and trek the 2000 miles on skis, including a 3000m climb, a trek of several hundred miles followed by a 3000m descent. The five man team hope to begin the journey which even Sir Ranulph has said in the past was impossible, in March 2013.
